Beautiful glazed saucer with a lot of American History. The corporation which manufactured/produced this lovely plate began to have difficulty in the 1950's making plates as well as competing against Japan for comparable pricing and craftsmanship.Amazing, many of the issues some present American Corporations are experiencing. Is it cost effective to make in the USA or offshore? Same question which was prose to Red Wing. However, they never faltered and continued to offer jobs here in the USA. Due to some extenuating circumstances...the corporation closed in 1967 

The true china red wing was developed as a new line in the very early 1960's which consist of china clay instead of pottery clay.

The glaze on the plate is impeccable and have a great stoneware look to it...this collectible plate can be placed in an etagere, as shadow box art, or onto a wall.
